Psychometric assessment & development of an in-house reference group for Warwickshire County Council

WARWICKSHIRE CC

Warwickshire County Council serves the needs of about 500,000 residents and businesses across an area of about 760 square miles.
Its Graduate Trainee Accountant programme is well-regarded and has been running for a number of years. Informed Assessment has been assisting with the selection of candidates for the programme through the administration, scoring and interpretation of a psychometric critical thinking test.

The results from the test are considered in conjunction with the results from several other exercises including a written exercise and a group exercise.

Following the assessment day, all candidates are offered feedback by Informed Assessment on their critical thinking test result, regardless of the outcome of their application.

As the test results have accumulated over the years, and the data has now reached an appropriate volume, Informed Assessment has recently been able to pull together an in-house sample for Warwickshire County Council, based on their own applicants for this role, for use in future assessment days.

Graham Shaw, Financial Services Manager at Warwickshire County Council and organiser of the Graduate Trainee Accountant recruitment programme, commented:

We have found that the ability test element of our assessment day run by Informed Assessment gives us some very useful information to consider alongside our other exercises when we come to make these important graduate recruitment decisions.
