John Sponton

John is an Occupational Psychologist and Founding Director of Informed Assessment. He has extensive experience of the design and delivery of assessment processes for both recruitment and development.

John is an Occupational Psychologist - Chartered and Registered Psychologist (HPC). He has extensive experience of the design and delivery of assessment processes for both recruitment and development.

His early career was in a line HR role before working for a leading psychometric test publisher. John then spent seven years with the TMP Worldwide Group - Austin Knight / MSL Search and Selection and CEPEC Consulting - undertaking a wide range of assessment, development, career management and outplacement projects. For three of these years, John was seconded to TMP’s HRD department. Wearing an’ internal’ hat, he was part of the core HRD team working alongside key line managers to deliver the Corporate HRD strategy.

John co-founded Informed Assessment in 2002. Since then he has been involved in the design and delivery of a wide range of assessment initiatives, across a diverse range of sectors and at all levels from “shop floor” to Chief Executive. In the last few years he has gained a wealth of expertise in the application of on-line assessment technology.

His academic background includes qualifications in Psychology, Human Resource Management and Counselling. His professional training includes Job Analysis and Competency Profiling, Training Design, Facilitation Skills, and the design of Assessment and Development Centres. John is trained in a wide range of psychometric instruments including personality questionnaires (e.g. OPQ, Wave, 16PF, MBTI, HPI and FIRO-B), motivation questionnaires and 360 degree tools.

John is the co-author of “Succeeding at Assessment Centres in a Week”, published by Hodder and Stoughton, “Managing Recruitment Pocketbook”, published by Management Pocketbooks and “Managing Assessment Centres Pocketbook”, also published by Management Pocketbooks.
